All Roads Lead to Animal Print
First of all, this post would be infinitely more enjoyable with Dean Martin’s ‘Italian Love Songs’ playing in the background.
You see, I am madly getting ready to leave for Rome on Saturday. ROMA! Sophie and I are taking another mother-daughter spring break vacation and we literally cannot wait. But somewhere along the way, in the planning and anticipation for this big trip, I may have confused my regular ole economy Delta flight with a Sci-Fi Time Machine because I seem to think I am traveling back to the 1950’s and 1960’s era of Rome.
I have been near-obsessed with googling retro images of celebrities in Rome. Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Lauren Bacall, Sophia Loren….and of course, Liz & Dick. Rome was the midcentury playground for the all the most glamorous people. As I pour through these nostalgic photos of a bygone world, one fashion trend from the era seems to jump out: Animal Print.
In a fairly harmless but mildly ridiculous way, I seem to have been subconsciously influenced by these photos as I purchased a few items for my own trip to Rome. Whoops. Maybe I overdid it?
In my mind I think I am going to look like Liz and Sophia, but in reality I am probably going to look more like Edina from an episode of “Absolutely Fabulous”.
No matter, we can easily turn this into a drinking game. Beginning next Sunday, every time you see a social media picture of me wearing something animal print in Rome, take a drink. To stay thematic, why not make it a Negroni Cocktail, Spritz, Limoncello, Grappa, or glass of Prosecco. We’ll see how sober everyone is when I return home at the end of the trip.
If you prefer to remain more temperate and simply want some sneak peeks of our week in Roma, I’ll be posting pics of pasta pasta pasta, baroque paintings, stunning architecture, fountains, obelisks, and lots ancient things that are mind-blowingly still around. Feel free to follow me on Instagram and Snapchat:

And now, I have a heap of errands to run and countless things to do before Saturday so I must say, Ciao! Ciao!
(and perhaps Grrrrrrr……)
